MANI MONDAY: WATER MARBLE NAIL ART

By bareMinerals | May 4, 2015

We love us a good tutorial here at bareMinerals. Who’s with us? Lately we’re loving marble nails. Aside from looking awesome, this one-of-a-kind look is super easy to pull off. Just add water. Who’s ready for a little nail art action? It’s just another mani Monday.

step1
STEP 1: Gather your supplies.

  • White nail polish for base
  • Nail polishes of your choice (min. of 2 shades)
  • Cup of water
  • Tape
  • Scissors
  • Thin stick (toothpicks work perfectly)
step2
STEP 2: Prep your nails with a clear base coat. Followed by a thin layer of white nail polish. Let dry.
step3
STEP 3: Tape off your nails to limit the amount of polish that gets on your hands. After all, this technique can be a bit messy. Start by wrapping a piece around the base of your nail and then another piece wrapped over the tip of your finger.
step4
STEP 4: Fill a cup with water. We recommend using a cup you don’t mind getting a bit dirty/stained. Next, take one polish at a time and add a single drop of polish to water. Alternating between the colors to create a cool bullseye effect.
step5
STEP 5: Take your toothpick and gently drag patterns throughout the polish that’s floating on the surface of the water.
step6
STEP 6: Slowly dip your finger at a 45-degree angle into the water, hitting whatever pattern you want your nail to pick up. Repeat steps 4 and 5 once you run out of polish. We had to do about 3 rounds of polish play.
step7
STEP 7: Gently pull off tape immediately after you remove finger from water. If you allow polish to dry, you may pull off some when you remove tape.
step8
STEP 8: Dip Q-Tip in nail polish remover and clean up around the edges.

There you have it. Nails so awesome all your friends will be wanting to know your secrets. Don’t worry, you can totally tell them.
