California Love: LA City Guide

By bareMinerals | May 26, 2015

More California Love comin’ your way. The celebrity sightings, the warmer weather, the opportunity to make it BIG…Los Angeles is where dreams are made. Plan a dream day (either solo or with your BFFs) soaking up the sun and enjoying the LA lifestyle to its fullest. You won’t regret it.

Hit up Santa Monica Pier
This is a great place to visit when looking to spend some time in the sun. Bring your own towel or rent an umbrella and chairs to set up camp on the beach. Or head to the pier and take a ride on the ferris wheel overlooking the coast. Where to go: Best place for lunch, seafood, and an ocean view is Catch at Hotel Casa Del Mar, 1910 Ocean Ave, Santa Monica

Use nature as your gym
Getting your fitness on is easy in LA, however nothing beats the 3.5-mile loop called Runyon Canyon Trail. Runyon is THE hike to do in LA. It’s located right in West Hollywood with awesome views of the city and possible celeb sightings, making it a must for locals and visitors alike. The best time to go is early morning, before the heat and the trail gets too crowed. Where to go: Runyon Canyon, 2000 N. Fuller Ave.

Be an original
Although many cities and communities have Farmers’ Markets there is something entirely unique and special about the Original Farmers Market. Open since 1934, this place claims to be the first Farmers Market. Expect to find fresh fruits and vegetables, a robust fresh meat selection, as well as fantastic places to sit down and have a meal. Where to go: The Original Farmers Market, 6333 W 3rd Street

Shop until you drop on Rodeo Drive
It’s a must. Rodeo Drive is a wonderland of luxury boutiques that you won’t find anywhere else. It’s a celebrity hot spot with all of the glam that you would imagine. Start at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel (you may recognize it from a movie or two). Have brunch/lunch/coffee/cocktails at The Blvd Restaurant and Lounge, surrounded by a beautiful ambiance. Head up Rodeo Drive from there and bask in all things luxe and glam. Where to go: Beverly Wilshire Hotel, 9500 Wilshire Blvd.

Learn a thing (or two)
There are so many amazing museums in LA, but the Natural History Museum is where it’s at. The building alone is incredible inside and out, with one-of-a-kind architecture. But the best part is certainly the rose garden. Majestic with a giant fountain in the middle and an expansive area of roses…you’ll surely get lost in the moment. They are currently showing a Dinosaur exhibit where the light plays off the fossils in a truly magnificent fashion. Where to go: Natural History Museum, 900 Exposition Blvd.

Splish, splash the day away
Pools are everywhere but the scene at The Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel is one you shouldn’t miss. Spend the day with poolside service and plenty of sun. The Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel is a Historical Cultural Monument and has that old 1950s Hollywood Glam oozing out of every aspect. Stay the day or stay the night, but whatever your choice this place will make you feel like you’re living in a black and white movie with the glitterati. Where to go: The Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, 7000 Hollywood Blvd.

Head to the market
Every Sunday from 9 am to 5 pm you can visit Melrose Trading Post in West Hollywood. This is the flea market of all flea markets. The vendors include furniture makers, jewelry designers, and tons of vintage clothing. You won’t be able to leave without a new succulent or piece of art for your home. There are treasures hidden everywhere and there’s something for everyone. Where to go: Melrose Trading Post, 7850 Melrose Ave.
