How to Choose a Blush by Skin Tone

Gen Nude Powder Blush comes in light, medium and deep intensities of four color families: mauves, pinks, peaches and beiges. 12 colors might sound daunting, but that’s what we’re here for. Our favorite tip: pinch your cheeks with no makeup on, then match your blush to that shade. For a little more guidance, read on!

Blush for Fair Skin Tones

If you have fair to light skin, begin with the lightest shade in any of the four color families. Light pinks and peaches make the best nude blush on fair skin, so we’d recommend Pretty in Pink or That Peach Tho. Love a little drama? A mauve like Call My Blush might be right up your alley.

Blush for Medium Skin Tones

If you have medium to tan skin, choose a mid-intensity shade from any of the four color families. Peaches flatter a warm complexion, so we recommend trying Bellini Brunch. For a little more edge, try On the Mauve. Beige for Days is the best contour color for medium to tan skin.

Blush for Dark Skin Tones

If you have dark to deep skin, choose the deepest shade from any of the four color families. Darker skin calls for richer pigments, so have fun with your color selection! We do recommend matching your blush and lipstick color families, so if you have a favorite lipstick color, that’s a great place to start when choosing a new blush.

How to Apply Blush

1. Find the Perfect Shade (See above!)
Follow your natural flush: pinch your cheeks with no makeup on, then match your blush to that natural hue.

2. Sweep & Blend
For the most natural effect, smile softly and blend blush up and out from the apples of your cheeks. For a contoured look, blush just below your cheekbones and blend up into the hairline.

Choosing a Blush Brush
For seamless blending, use the Blooming Blush Brush for both your blush and bronzer. Always keep your highlighting brush separate to keep shimmer under control.

Where Do Blush and Bronzer Go?

GOOD QUESTION. Use bronzer or a beige blush to accentuate the hollows of your cheekbones, then add a small amount of blush directly on the apples of your cheeks.
