8 Simple Beauty Tips for Multi-Taskers
Does it ever feel like your front door is a finish line, and you’re racing to cross it from the second your eyes flutter open? You’ve got a shower to take, an outfit to find, breakfast to make, and coffee to brew — not to mention an entire AM beauty routine so you feel confident and well-groomed as you jet out the door. We’re here to tell you that yes, you can have a made-up face and your morning sanity, too. Cut back on the frenzy and start the day off right with these simple, non-fussy beauty and skincare multi-tasking tips.
Get an Instant Refresh with Chilled Cream
If waking up with a puffy face and dark circles is par for the course, this hack might revolutionize your mornings. All you have to do is store your favorite day cream into the fridge (there are even mini skincare fridges you can keep in your bathroom!). The chilled moisturizer will instantly soothe puffy skin and give you a much-needed refresh. Any cream will work, but gel creams — like SKINLONGEVITY Vital Power Eye Gel Cream — are particularly soothing due to the water content. This trick also works for night creams, which is perfect for summer months.
Cocktail Your Skincare Products
“If you’re in a hurry, add your serum directly into your moisturizer and then apply it to your face,” says Blass Laner, Learning Design Manager, Global Education at bareMinerals. For example, take one pump of SKINLONGEVITY Vital Power Infusion Serum and a pea-sized amount of SKINLONGEVITY Vital Power Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 30 in your hands, mix them together, and then gently massage into your skin after cleansing. Since the moisturizer has SPF, you’ll actually be checking three steps off the list.
Fake a Subtle Summer Glow
Not collecting much color this summer? Well, that’s a good thing so pat yourself on the back! That said, you can totally fake a bit of that summer glow without the sun damage or the hassle of a sunless tanner that could result in a splotchy or orange-y application. Simply add a touch of liquid highlighter to your favorite moisturizer (tinted or otherwise), bb cream or foundation. For example, add half a pump of BAREPRO Glow Liquid Bronzer to a full pump of COMPLEXION RESCUE Tinted Moisturizer, mix it together and apply with clean fingers or a makeup sponge. If you’d rather use powder instead of liquid, sprinkle a bit of Warmth All-Over Face Color Bronzer into the cap of your mineral foundation before swirling, tapping and buffing it on.
Double Down on Your Eyeshadow Primer
Many of us remember our first encounter with eyeshadow primer and how much of a game changer it was. It’s basically like insurance for your eye makeup, helping to keep everything in place — sans creases — from the second you walk out the door until you wash your face at night. In addition to using it on your eyelids, you can also swipe some on underneath your eyes before applying your go-to undereye concealer. It’ll prevent creasing and lock your product in place. We recommend the super-versatile PRIME TIME Eyeshadow Primer.
Find Makeup That Works Harder for You
One of the easiest ways to create a cohesive makeup look is to use the same product for your lips and cheeks (and sometimes you can extend to your eyelids, as well). New BOUNCE & BLUR Blush can be dabbed on to eyes, lips and cheeks for a natural flush of monochromatic color. Another option to tie your look together is powder bronzer, like ENDLESS SUMMER Bronzer in Warmth, a longtime cult-favorite shade in a new pressed compact. “After applying bronzer on your face, sweep the same product across your eyelids. It adds a quick wash of color and creates a cohesive, sun-kissed finish,” says Blass
Let Your Summer Glow Show
“The tanner you are, the less coverage you’ll likely want so keep it light when it comes to your makeup. Really let that natural skin tone shine through,” says Blass. “Start with something like our COMPLEXION RESCUE Tinted Moisturizer (which packs SPF 30, too), and then lightly layer on the COMPLEXION RESCUE Hydrating Foundation Stick for spots that may need additional coverage.” Tinted moisturizers are a great one-two punch when you’re looking for something light and easy, or if you’re short on time, but if you already own a full-coverage foundation, you can make it more sheer by mixing it with a pump of your favorite serum or cream.
Use Your Moisturizer on Your Brows
You deep condition your hair and keep hand lotion in your bag, so why not give your brows a little hydration, too? Simply brush a tiny bit of your favorite moisturizer or serum through your brows with a spoolie or your fingers. Not only does this nourish your brow hairs, but it also gives them a glossy sheen without you having to find your brow gel.
Whip Up a Body and Lip Scrub with Stuff in Your Pantry
Exfoliation is mandatory year-round, but it especially comes in handy during warmer months when you’re baring more skin and want to look your glowiest. No time to run and shop before breaking out your favorite slip dress? Fortunately, DIYing your own body scrub is as easy as combining two ingredients: oil and either sugar or salt. Simply mix one part of oil (we like coconut, avocado, jojoba and olive) with two parts of sugar (brown or white) or salt. Salt scrubs are more abrasive, and therefore better on feet, elbows, legs, and knees. Sugar works all over, but especially on your lips, chest, and arms. Apply a dollop of the mix, gently massage into your skin, then rinse away with warm water. If you have oil residue, follow up with your preferred face or body wash.
