Get Festive with These Easy Clean Beauty Looks

By Sarah Walter | November 5, 2019

It’s the season of family, merriment and even a bit of decadence, which lends itself to a more dressed up approach to your makeup. With that spirit in mind, we took on two holiday classics (next level lashes and a classic red lip) and revved them up with a modern-yet-timeless spin.

Each look highlights a single feature with flair, so we kept the rest of the face natural-looking, adding subtle hints of color, and touching up skin with the water-based COMPLEXION RESCUE Hydrating Foundation Stick SPF 25 to set the stage for your makeup (and you!) to really shine. Luckily, you don’t have to stress to achieve these wearable looks — they can be replicated in just a few simple steps (and a few pro tips from our Global Makeup Artist Carly Giglio). Get ready to channel all the excitement of the season…

bambi lashes

Bambi Lashes

1. Apply COMPLEXION RESCUE Hydrating Foundation Stick SPF 25 directly onto your face, starting in the center, from your forehead and down your nose and chin. Apply one swipe along your cheekbones and one swipe under your eyes. Blend outward with the Smoothing Face Brush. Swipe 2-3 times in any area where you’d like more coverage.

2. Bounce on BOUNCE & BLUR Blush in Blurred Buff to cheeks and blur around the edges for a seamless, diffused application, and tap a small amount of blush on the bridge of the nose to tie the look together.

3. Using the GEN NUDE Eyeshadow Palette in Copper, apply the shade Truth over the entire lid from lash line to brown bone, creating a base color. Add the shade Bonfire to highlight the inner corner of the eye.

4. Twist ONE FINE LINE Micro Liner in Exact Onyx to dispense the liner (twist slowly so you don’t get too much — you’ll want two clicks per eye). Start at the outer corner of the eye and apply tightly to the lash line in short strokes, working your way inward along the lash line, waterline or both. The goal is to create the look of fuller lashes at the base, as opposed to a strong eyeliner look.

5. For real volume and lift, apply a few coats of LASHTOPIA Mega Volume Mineral-Based Mascara. Position the wand horizontally and sweep upward from lash root to tip to achieve length and lift. Wiggle the wand from side-to-side to achieve maximum volume, then use the tapered peak of the brush to create separation and definition. Layer generously, focusing on the center of the top lashes to give a wide, doe-eyed effect.

Matte Red Lip

2. Using the Blooming Blush Brush, apply GEN NUDE Powder Blush in the shade Call My Blush along the apples of your cheeks, blending upward towards the ear but keeping the strongest color towards the front of your face.

3. Using the GEN NUDE Eyeshadow Palette in Rose, apply the shade Boho from lash line to crease, and Free Spirit to the inner corner.

Use the smaller side of the Expert Shadow & Liner Brush to extend the outer corner, creating a small “cat eye” flick.

5. Apply BAREPRO Longwear Lipstick in Cherry directly to lips for full coverage color in one swipe that lasts up to 8 hours. For more precision, line lips with GEN NUDE or STATEMENT UNDER OVER Lip Liner before or after application.

A few tips from Carly to help with achieving your best red lip ever:

  • Make sure to blot your lips of any excess balm before applying matte lipstick.
  • Mineral Cleansing Water and small cotton buds are your best friends — use a lightly dampened cotton bud to clean up any uneven edges.
  • To help your lists last, use a small brush to press a small amount of MINERAL VEIL Finishing Powder over the lipstick once the color has dried. The sheer powder will add extra setting power.
